Shallot is a herbaceous plant, which, due to its morphology, can be cultivated at any time of the year. Even when the fruit is ripe, this species is not able to produce flowers, but develops a large number of green leaves instead. Shallot can be used to add flavor to your dishes or as a replacement for onion if sautéed.
